After
graduating from the University of Buckingham in 1988 I worked as a publisher
for the Daily Mail General Trust group of companies in London, then later
for the BBC. I started my own publishing company and was quite happy until
I had an accident that left me (temporarily) paralysed in both legs.
Fortunately I was seen at the hospital by an osteopath who with a series
of treatments helped me on the road to full rehabilitation without the
need for surgery.
Recovery
after such an acute trauma was a huge turning point for me, and I decided
that this profession was so worthwhile that I wanted to join it. I was
accepted at the British School of Osteopathy and started retraining.
During
the four years of study students run the in house clinic - which is the
largest osteopathic clinic in the UK treating over 36,000 patients a year.
Also there are the specialist outside clinics for; Geriatric Care; the
Homeless; Expectant Mothers; Sports and Children all of which are run
by the students. In all as a student I completed 2000 hours in the various
clinics.
Since
graduating I worked in a busy osteopathic clinic in London and now
have a clinic in Antibes, on the Cote D'Azur where I live.
There are 2 osteopaths working 6 days a week in this clinic.
